Manly Corso Shopping Centre
Sydney's Northern Beaches |
|
|
Manly Corso situated on the Northern side of Sydney Harbour, it is the access point to the Northern Beaches.
Manly is one of Sydney's longest and most beautiful ocean beaches. The surfing beach at Manly is about three km long and has three names, North Steyne, South Steyne and Queenscliff. There is a wide choice of places to eat and drink, from fast-food outlets to quality seafood, steak, Asian and Italian restaurants.
When Captain Arthur Phillip, the commander of the First Fleet, was exploring Sydney Harbour in 1788, he saw a group of well-built Aboriginal men onshore, proclaimed them to be "manly" and named the cove in the process. During the Edwardian era it became fashionable as a recreational retreat from the city, and the cheesy slogan of the time "Manly - seven miles from Sydney, but a thousand miles from care" still rings true today. |
