Newport Beach Shopping Centre
Sydney's Northern Beaches |
|
|
Newport, boasts a fine stretch of ocean surfing beach between two rocky headlands; on Sunday crowds gather to listen to live music in the beer garden of legendary north side pub, the Newport Arms, overlooking Heron Cove on Pittwater. A seafood lunch in the sunny beer garden is a chance to drop straight into Sydney's surfing and sailing cultures, and to watch yachts work their way up Pittwater.
Newport has many attractions from stylish Cafes and restaurants to many specialist shops. There is a good lively atmosphere during the evening and the street side restaurants and cafe's are usually heaving during summer weekends.
The area came to be called Newport from about 1880. Newport is situated between Bungan Beach to the South and Bilgola Plateau to the North. On the east is the Tasman Sea and on the west side is Pittwater, it's waterways providing access to most water sports, from yachting to scuba diving and surfing, and wind surfing. Newport is one of our favourite places to dine on Sydneys northern beaches. |
