The beach itself is popular with locals, families, day-trippers, divers and surfers. If you're with the kids, head for the southern end of the beach, where they can splash around in their very own children's pool and play in the well-shaded park (which also has picnic and BBQ facilities).
A popular beach for surfers it is patrolled during the summer months and has a swimming pool at the Southern end. Toilets and showers are provided in the surf club.
The origin of the name Whale Beach is unknown, although it is presumed to be associated either with the shape of the northern headland, or a beaching of a whale. Whale Beach faces east to the ocean, with Palm Beach to the north and Avalon to the south.
Whale beach boasts some of the most stylish Cafes and restaurants on Sydneys Northern Beaches. |
