It is a mainly residential suburb, with a few small shops and two golf courses, Monash Country Club, a private Championship Golf Course with first-class facilities is close by, as is Elanora Country Club.
The northern side of Elanora Heights fronts onto bushland, which runs to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The south-western side adjoins Garigal National Park. Native wildlife is common in the area, with bandicoots, blue tongue lizards, possums and many birds being seen. A rare quoll has been found in the suburb in recent years, and Rock wallabies are commonly seen on the course at Elanora Country Club.
Elanora Heights Shopping Centre is conveniently located on Powder Works Road at Elanora about 2 kilometres off Pittwater Road. Elanora shops are beautifully situated in a bushland setting, which appeals to those who prefer a quiet relaxed village style living on Sydneys Northern Beaches. Elanora shops feature a great pizza cafe, restaurant, hair dressing salons, & Real Estate Agents there is also a post office. Only 30 minutes from the CDB of Sydney, via Mona Vale road but a million miles from the City hustle. Elanora is an excellent place live on the peninsula.
