Sydney's Northern Beaches

Narrabeen is part of Sydney's famous northern beaches stretch that lies at the northern end of a broad three-mile stretch of sand, which starts at Collaroy. Narrabeen beach is famous as one of the great surf breaks of the world. It is approximately 26 kilometres from the Sydney central business district. North Narrabeen beach is commonly used for surfing competitions and is made famous by mention in a Beach Boys song lyric from Surfin' USA.

The Narrabeen area is set apart from the other fabulous northern beaches as it is blessed with the Narrabeen Lakes or Narrabeen lagoon which is a haven for sailing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, boating, swimming and fishing. The lakes are vista for leisure activates. The lake is surrounded by numerous parks and reserves, which provide beautiful walking tracks along the waters edge. Narrabeen Lake empties out to the sea at the north end of Narrabeen Beach. There is a public caravan park on the north bank of the outlet of Narrabeen Lake

The Narrabeen Shopping Centre also features many fine restaurants and cafes and a friendly shopping atmosphere. The monthly market is a regular attraction with stalls right on the waters edge at Berry Reserve, providing the perfect location to pick up a once a month Saturday morning bargain.

There are four beaches along the Narrabeen stretch of beach, North Narrabeen, Narrabeen, South Narrabeen and Collaroy beach (although Collaroy is a separate suburb, its beach lies along the same stretch) all with their own Surf Life Saving Club.
